So as it turns out Billy Idol was also on the bill today but had to cancel at the last minute due to a family emergency. Boo hoo. So to make up for it the radio station (alice) got Simon, John, AND Andy to do a mini-acoustic set...and when I say mini I do mean MINI. They came out and did 3 songs...Hungry Like the Wolf, Chains, and Save a Prayer. They looked hot and sounded great but jeez I could have used a couple more songs! I took a few photos but don't think they'll come out great cause it was during peak sun hours...Apparently the boys are in Marin or somewhere like that recording a new album! yay!

Marin? Oh so close! Wonder where they are partying?

I was so tempted to go once I heard about the acoustic set, but my gut told me it would be a waste of time... and I don't do well in crowds. Free tix on the other hand would have made it worth my while. And alcohol would have made the crowd palatable. Lucky Dina! It was a beautiful day to be out in the park. I hope you were wearing sunscreen.

So Billy Idol had an emergency this year. Morrissey was ill last year. I think Alice is lying that either act was ever on the bill. Wouldn't put it past them. Or maybe Billy and Morrissey listened to Alice's morning show when they got to town and said "These people are asinine and their morning show sucks. I'm outta here!"

yeah and not only did I get free tix but I got a VIP pass too! Which means FREE food AND booze!!! YIPPPEE!!! I needed it to get through even one of Maroon 5's songs!

But it was a really nice day in the park, so a good excuse to get outside. And yeah Eileen I'm with you on the FAKE lineup....I was saying that to my friend and a couple other people that day...either they are JINXED or they're making the shit up!

My cab driver friend said he picked somebody up on Saturday night who apparently had hung out at some house with the band up in Marin....I for one am keepin my eyes open as I walk past the Sheraton Palace on my way to work in the morning...I think that's their hotel of choice!

It bears repeating - Lucky Dina!

Sheraton Palace, you say? Maybe I'll start going for walks at lunch.

I used to listen to Alice when I was in/near SF. I liked it. Did they go downhill?

That's awesome that Duran is recording again! That leaves what? About 3 years before it sees the light of day?

personally I think Alice sucks ass, they're a bit too "adult contemporary" for me...and their morning show is annoying. Unfortunately, they get good guests.

Here's the link to photos from the concert:

and I just now discovered that Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode called in to that dumb morning show this morning....listening to it now!

Occasionally they'll have an 80's theme weekend - at least I think it's alice - and I'm all for that no matter the call letters. Since I only listen to the radio in my friend's car, I have been able to limit my total exposure.

The morning show is absolutely terrible. I really don't know how they continue to get good guests.

I never listen to the radio anymore. It's just me and my iPod.

I remember Alice playing The Cure, DM, DD, etc. That was a couple years ago though- the last time I was in SF.
